A Man’s Romantic Gesture For His Girlfriend’s Mug Collection

Ana Stanowick’s mom has always loved collecting coffee mugs. The University of Arkansas student thinks her mom’s hobby is cute, but her dad is not a fan.

“My dad used to get so annoyed every time my mom would come home with a new coffee mug (she likes to collect them),” Stanowick wrote on Twitter recently.

Four and a half years ago, the couple divorced, and Stanowick’s mom, Jodi, was ready to find love again. And she did, with a man who appreciates her and her mugs.

The 19-year-old shared a lovely photo on Twitter this week of a mug wall that her mom’s boyfriend built for her. He even climbed a ladder to help her arrange her precious mugs (many of which have frogs on them) in the perfect spot.

Many of the mugs feature frogs! What made him do such a sweet thing?

The couple had been dating for three years and decided to move in together. Brad Davis wanted to make sure his girlfriend felt comfortable in their new home.

“I wanted to do this for Jodi so that she could enjoy all of the mugs every day instead of just drinking out of one each day,” Davis told TODAY Style.

A closer look at some of the mugs in the collection. Before that, Stanowick’s mom had been keeping her mugs in cabinets and sometimes on the counter, so the mug wall was a big improvement.

Stanowick explained how her mom’s passion for mugs started: “The love for mugs (and frogs) started when she was about my age. Her mom got her a frog mug for Christmas, but it broke before she could even open it. So since then, it’s been a tiny obsession.”

Stanowick has been collecting mugs for years. Twitter users loved the romantic gesture and praised Davis in the comments.

Many social media users could relate to Stanowick’s story.

I love this. My dad used to literally never move from the couch and make my mom do everything for him. Her new boyfriend is constantly trying to help her and do things for her, and she has no idea what to do with herself! It’s so sweet to watch. Some thanked the men who support their wives’ hobbies.

Wow, I feel thankful that my dad supports my mom’s hobbies. My dad would always fix her sewing machine (because it is so old, it was my grandma’s). I never heard him say, “Throw away that noisy junk.” So he helps her preserve its beauty. Full of memories back in the 60’s. 💕 Some shared photos of their own mug collections.

My dad also gave in to my mom’s collection, so he built her this. We got more mugs on a cart.

Mine built me a bespoke wooden podium for my ever-increasing collection of wobbleheads, which I think he secretly hates, which makes the gesture all the more bloody excellent! Stanowick said she was happy that her mom found someone who embraced her quirks.

“Seeing her mug wall made me so happy for her to have finally found someone who embraces her quirks instead of trying to hide them,” she said.
