Get To Know Kelly Clarkson’s Unorthodox Parenting Method – Spanking Her Children Included

Kelly Clarkson has a very keen idea of how she teaches her kids right from wrong. The mother of two even claimed that she would spank her kids if they don’t behave properly in a recent interview.

According to the singer, this is a common thing to do in her home state of Louisiana.

Clarkson is from Fort Worth, Texas. She is the mother of two:, River Rose, 5, and Remy, 3, alongside two stepchildren from her first marriage. When asked how she disciplined her kids, the singer said, “I’m not above a spanking,” which caused some controversial sparks. Of course, by “spanking”, Clarkson didn’t mean a full beating, but rather a slap on the rear.

Clarkson explained that when she was young, her parents spanked her as a way of education as well. Thanks to her parents’ harsh method, the musician became successful in life, and is currently happy with herself. She also mentioned that her mom and dad didn’t spank her right away, but always a warning first when she was about to do something wrong.

The Voice coach went on to say that from where she is,  spanking is a common disciplinary method. However, she agreed that it could be hard to do in public because there would be people who disagree with her.

People have debated about whether or not spanking is a good way to punish over a long period of time. Some people think it’s safe, while others think it’s dangerous.

Whether to allow spanking or not has always been a controversial topic for parents. While some think that it’s a safe and necessary way to discipline your kids, some others believe it can leave lasting effects both physically and mentally.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, however, has voiced its disagreement with spanking or any other kind of physical punishment as a way to discipline children.
