Deaf Uber Driver Who Uses Heartwarming Note To Communicate With Passengers Melts Hearts Online

Recently, a heartwarming story about an Uber driver named Onur Kerey went viral.

Onur, who is deaf, hangs a special note on his car to communicate with his passengers.

This thoughtful note has touched the hearts of many on social media.

A woman passenger, who uses the Twitter handle @Iilghostgirl, recently shared her experience with Onur.

When she entered the cab, she was greeted by a note hanging behind the driver’s seat.

The note read:

“Hi, I’m Onur. Welcome to my Uber 🙂 I’m deaf, so if you need to tell me something, please text me, or when we’ve stopped, you can write it in the notepad to show me. You can use the AUX cable to play your own music – if you have anything with a strong bass, I will enjoy it too. Thanks for bearing with me & have a great day :)”

Most of the time, cab rides are pretty routine and nothing special. It’s just a way to get from one place to another, usually without much chat with the driver.

But the experience of this woman was extremely unique.

This tweet was posted on April 18 and quickly went viral, with over 540,000 likes and thousands of retweets.

The passenger called it “the most wholesome Uber” experience of her life, praising Onur as an “absolute hero.”

The viral tweet reached Onur too, and he couldn’t help but reply:

Even Uber is proud of their driver:

In 2019, Onur shared in an interview with Uber that he chose to partner with them because he loves driving, and some other cab companies do not allow deaf drivers.

He advised passengers to wave or tap his shoulder (if the car isn’t moving) to get his attention.

He also mentioned that speaking loudly or quickly doesn’t help, as profoundly deaf individuals still cannot hear.

Someone also shared this video in a tweet:

The note has gone viral and received many reactions from people on Twitter.

Jeremy Abbott, the latest passenger to share his encounter with Onur, tweeted, “I have just entered the most wholesome Uber of my entire life. Big ups, Onur, absolute hero.”

His tweet received over 3,000 retweets and 54,000 likes, warming the hearts of many on Twitter.

One Twitter user, Tarun Srikonda, commented, “It’s time we recognize such heroes in all lines of work.”

Another user shared their personal experience, saying, “Onur was my Uber driver once, and he was the loveliest!”

“Give this man a raise,” someone tweeted.
