• Kelly Clarkson Defends Her Choice To Spank Her Children: ‘It Works For Me’

Some people think spanking is a bad way to discipline a child. They say it’s ineffective and harmful, and that’s what the American Academy of Pediatrics says too. But there are still parents who believe in spanking, and they say it works for them.

Kelly Clarkson is one of those parents, and she’s not afraid to say it. She opened up about her parenting style in a radio interview a while ago.

Kelly has two kids, River Rose, 8, and Remy, 6, and she said she “is not above spanking” them when they misbehave. “I don’t mean hitting them hard,” she said. “I just mean a little spanking.”

She said it’s something she grew up with, and she doesn’t see anything wrong with it.

“My parents spanked me; I did fine in life, and I feel fine about it.” Kelly, who grew up in Texas, said. “I’m from the South, y’all, so we get spankings. My mom would call the principal if I ever ended up in the principal’s office and give permission for her to spank me. I’m a well-rounded individual with a lot of character, so I think it’s fine.”

Kelly is not only a successful singer, songwriter, author, and TV host, but she also recently got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The American Idol star admitted that her way of parenting is not popular and that it’s hard to do it in public.

“That’s a tricky thing when you’re out in public, because then people are like,They think that’s wrong or something, but I find nothing wrong with a spanking,” she said. “I do believe in spanking, so you might catch me spanking my child at the zoo.”

But she added that she warns her kids before she does it.

“I’m like, ‘Hi, I’m going to spank you on your bottom if you don’t stop right now; this is ridiculous,’ and honestly, it’s really helped. She doesn’t do that kind of stuff as often.”

What do you think of Kelly Clarkson’s way of disciplining her kids? Or do you think everyone should do it their own way?
